E15 on a dishwasher — the control board reorder that did not hold.
Three warranty callbacks in three weeks. The board keeps coming back. The float switch never got metered under a dry-cycle drain test before the reorder.
A dishwasher routine on a 6-year-old fingerprint-resistant panel throws E15 — leak detection — twenty-eight hours after a tech resets the tray and clears the code. The tech orders a control board on the strength of the prior visit. The replacement throws the same code on day six. A second replacement goes in fifteen days later and trips on day nine.
The code is real. The float switch is signaling the board that water is in the base pan whenever it makes contact, but the test that separates a stuck float from a failed board never ran: a dry-cycle drain test with the meter on the float harness for the full cycle duration.

Before a second board reorder, the bench reviewer asks for one test: a dry-cycle drain run with the meter clipped to the float-switch harness for the full cycle.
- 01Pull the dishwasher out and tilt to confirm water is not already standing in the base pan.
- 02Start a dry cycle with the meter on the float harness; the switch must remain open across the cycle.
- 03If the switch closes mid-cycle on a dry run, the float is the suspect — replace the float switch assembly before any further board work.
- 04Only if the switch holds open for the cycle does a board reorder become defensible — and then on the strength of an actual part spec, not a code.
